Analyzing an exported Text File

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

A file exported by the system in a Text format has the following appearance:

arquivo_texto

The first data that we can observe is the address for the station followed below by its description. Then we have the date and time for the sample, and finally we have the values of the variables measured. The number of variables contained in each station depends on the model for the station.

The file exported in CSV format may be opened with a normal text editor, and it will have the following appearance:

arquivo_texto_csv

The first information that we have is the instrument address, followed by the date and time for the sample, the fields that follow are the values of the variables measured. The number of variables contained in each station depends on the model of the station.

The CSV file may be better analyzed using the program Microsoft Excel. Inside Excel, click on the File menu and then on Open, on the combined box Type of the files, look for the option Text Files or CSV File.

On the exportation to the Database, the file generated (extension .db) is used just to be imported and analyzed by the Sitrad's Report Generator system, using the option of adding the database in the Database Guide for the system.
