Placing an Instrument in Maintenance

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

To place an instrument in maintenance, first, select it. Then click on the menu item Communication then click on the item Status. A sub-menu will be displayed with two items: Maintenance and Communicate. Click on Maintenance to alter the status of the instrument.

When the instrument is in maintenance, the system will no longer communicate with it.

Another method for placing an instrument in maintenance is to click on the right button of the mouse, over the instrument desired on the list of instruments, and then a menu will appear, click on the Maintenance option.

To make the system communicate again with the instrument, proceed in the same manner as cited above, however clicking on Communicate instead of on Maintenance.

Why would you put an instrument in maintenance?

If you have an instrument that is indicating a failure, when the system communicates with it, it loses a certain amount of time waiting for a response from this instrument. However, when the instrument is placed in maintenance, it gains this time, since the system cannot communicate any longer with it.
